Main Scripture: Psalm 1
Blessed (Happy)* is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. (Psalm 1:1-2 NKJV)
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. (Psalm 1:1-2 NKJV)
*Parenthesis mine.
JESUS is the Word of God, the greatest revelation of the Father.
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, (Hebrews 1:1-3 NKJV)
The key to happiness and fruitfulness as a person, according to the verses above, is the moment by moment study of, obedience to and enjoyment of God's Word.
So, contrary to popular belief, "Happiness" is not found in: Material possessions, relationships, occupations, recreation, addictions, the pursuit of knowledge, etc. The list goes on and on. Just read Ecclesiastes in the Bible for an exhaustive list of examples.
The scores of unhappy, miserable millionaires, intellectuals, accomplished athletes, successful business people, health gurus, druggies, etc. can certainly attest to that. Don't get me wrong, most of the above aspirations/conditions/etc. are not wrong in and of themselves ........ They are just NOT the KEY to happiness ....... So, it is a waste of time to pursue them as if they were!
HAPPINESS, true and lasting HAPPINESS, is found in getting to know Jesus Christ, and cultivating a growing relationship with Him.
